About Nutrievo

Nutrievo was founded in 2009 by a group of pet nutrition experts in the Netherlands. Dissatisfied with the unhealthy composition and ingredients in the parrot foods on the market, the group consulted with several veterinary nutrition experts to determine the best sources for parrot food ingredients. Working with caring pet professionals – veterinarians, breeders and nutritionists – the people at Nutrievo asked one key question: “How can we make the healthiest parrot food in the world?”

Based on information from this research, Nutrievo’s nutritional philosophy was developed:

1. Only use high-quality human grade ingredients

It is important to understand that the pet food industry is the primary outlet for human by-products. There are ingredients which are allowed to be used in pet foods that are, at best, scary. Nutrievo uses only high-quality, natural ingredients to create foods that are denser and richer in essential nutrients. This means parrots get more nutrition from less food, with calories and fats in each formula balanced to fit their specific needs.

2. Use whole ingredients that are nutrient and fiber rich

Mother Nature made the grain in its whole state. As such, it includes nutritious protein, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Other parrot food companies use fractionated grains, which do not include this balance of natural nutrition. Furthermore they also grind the ingredients very fine and push them at very high temperature through their extrusion machines in order to get a crunchy dog and cat food like end product.

3. Use highly controlled production methods and quality checks to preserve natural levels of nutrients

With our unique Crumlet Technology production method, we succeeded in getting the best out of the high quality raw materials we use while maintaining the essential nutrients and at the same time provide the essential fiber and structure in the food. Furthermore Nutrievo products are subjected to well over 50 defined quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process as required by GMP+, QS and SafeFeed. These structured and rigorous checks ensure the highest- quality and safest parrot food on the market. Multiple tests must be passed and specifications must be met for all raw materials and at many key control points during the manufacturing process before any food, treat or supplement makes it out of the manufacturing facility and on to retailers’ shelves.

4.No use of artificial preservatives, colors or additives

Nutrievo will not add anything to the food unless it is nutritious and healthful for a parrot. All our foods are free from chemical additives of any kind, including preservatives such as ethoxyquin and BHA/BHT, which are frequently found in parrot foods but are banned from human use in many countries.

5. Continue extensive testing and monitoring to assure optimal health and longevity of parrots and other small animals

Nutrievo will stay on the leading edge of bird and small animal health care. As new information is developed, Nutrievo will adjust formulas to ensure that our diets stay the healthiest in the world!
